Your new home has a pre-existing home security system
Many times after you purchase a house, you’ll see that the previous owners used a smart home system. All the devices function well, are installed in the right areas, and are ready to go. In this instance, all you may have to do is to call and establish a new monitoring contract. A Vivint installer will still come to your home to ensure there are no integration problems, and they could offer options on upgrades. It's a preliminary visit, and you can have your alarm monitoring set up without worrying about any new alarms and cameras -- unless you add on.
The previous homeowners can transfer an existing Vivint contract to you for a small set-up fee to make your life simpler. If the outgoing residents downsize to a condo or smaller home, transferring the security contract may be a part of the sale.
You need to move and bring your home security components with you
You may want to take your existing home security components with you to a new place when you move. That’s pretty easy to do, as most alarms and smart devices are plug and play. You can uninstall each alarm or camera by yourself or call a Vivint installer to dismantle everything. Then a pro will hang the same components -- and any new things you need -- in the new home. Your home security contract will keep the same.
